Privacy, terms and the fine print

How UserX LLC handles your information, the terms for using this site, and a note about the work we show.

Privacy policy

UserX LLC ("UserX", "we", "us") runs this website. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit or contact us, and what we do with it.

What we collect

  • What you send us. When you email us, send a message from the site or book a call, we receive what you share. Only your name, email and a few words are needed; the rest is up to you: your company, phone number, location, budget, what you need help with and the details of your project, plus the time you choose for a call.
  • Simple visit statistics. The site counts visits itself, sending them only to our own server: the pages you view, the page that sent you here, any campaign tags in the link, roughly how long a page stays open (a short signal every 20 seconds while it's visible), and clicks on a few kinds of links (email, booking, case studies and links to other sites). These are tied to a random visitor ID and a random session ID kept in your browser, not to your name. If your browser sends "Do Not Track", none of this is collected.
  • Google Analytics, only if you allow it. The first time you visit, a small notice asks whether we can count your visit. If you choose Allow, the site loads Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies to tell visits apart and reports the pages you view, roughly where you're visiting from, your device and browser, and when a form you send goes through (not what you wrote in it). Its advertising features and Google signals are turned off. If you choose No thanks, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control or "Do Not Track", Google Analytics isn't loaded at all. Your choice is kept for 180 days.
  • Page counts from our host. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, counts page loads and how fast they are, without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Basic server records. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.

What we don't do

  • We don't run advertising or use advertising cookies, and Google Analytics only runs if you allow it.
  • We don't sell or rent your personal information.

Sharing a page

The share buttons don't send anything to us or anyone else on their own. Each one opens that network's own share page (or your device's share menu) with this page's public address and title, and copying a link or caption only puts it on your clipboard. What you post from there is between you and that service.

Your browser's storage

The site keeps a few small things in your own browser (local and session storage): which character you're seeing, which ones you've already seen (so each visit can show you a new one), whether you've seen the "click me" hint, and the random visitor and session IDs used for the visit statistics above, and your Google Analytics choice. The preferences stay on your device; you can clear all of it at any time from your browser's settings.

How we use your information

  • To reply to you, schedule and hold calls, and send proposals.
  • To provide the services you engage us for, under a separate agreement.
  • To keep the site secure and working, and to understand which pages are useful.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to operate (for example hosting, email and calendar tools, and Google Analytics if you allow it), and only for those purposes; or when the law requires it. If UserX were ever involved in a merger or sale, your information could be transferred as part of it, under this same policy.

How long we keep it

As long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires, and then we delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by writing to info@userx.us. You can also change your analytics choice at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA; we'll honor them.

Children

This site is meant for businesses and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.

Terms of use

By using this website you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

The content and design

The text, design, code, 3D models, animations and other material on this site belong to UserX LLC or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws. You're welcome to view and share links to the site; please don't copy, reproduce or reuse its content or design without our written permission. Names, logos and trademarks of other companies belong to their owners.

Information only

The site describes our services and our approach for general information. It isn't professional advice for your situation. Work we do for you is governed by a separate written agreement, which takes precedence over anything on this site.

No warranty

We work hard to keep the site accurate and available, but it's provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, UserX LLC isn't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of this site.

Links to other sites

We may link to sites we don't control, such as our design system or social profiles. We aren't responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

We may update these terms; the version posted here, with its date, is the one that applies.

About the work we show

This site shows projects that members of UserX have worked on, at UserX and in earlier roles and engagements, so you can see the kind of work we do.

Our part, and only our part

Products are built by many people. For each project we take credit only for our own contribution, the role and work we describe, not for the product as a whole, its brand or its results. Those belong to their owners and to the teams we worked alongside.

Their names and logos

Company names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. We show them to say that we did work for or with these companies. It doesn't mean they endorse, sponsor or are affiliated with UserX, unless we say so plainly.

Our views are our own

Opinions on this site are ours, not those of any current or former employer or client.
